Blair's blog for Marie Claire encapsulates everything that turned me off a girl who I used to thoroughly enjoy following. It's widely known that her interests in both fashion and blogging are fairly limited. You only have to take one look at her own personal blog for the evidence - it's neglected and the posts are written wih haste and devoid babble.
I don't normally find any enjoyment in criticizing the Fowlers' business ventures. After all, I believe making a career out of something you enjoy is quite fortunate and admirbale. However, I do feel that Blair's "article" was an insult to the quality of the magazine. Without a doubt there is room for quirkiness in her own personal videos on YouTube, however, when you are blogging for a popular magazine, the work should be taken seriously and each word should be tweaked to perfection. I couldn't help but feel like Blair rushed the piece and focused more on projecting a "cute bimbo" image of herself than informing the reader of the event.
One more point - I wonder how the bosses will react to the response to the blog post. I'm surprised it was published at all to be quite honest.
It's certainly not in their favour to allow such a standard of writing to be linked to their publication anyway, despite having Blair's name linked to it. Despite her passable YouTube fame, there is no reason for such a highly regarded magazine to treat Blair delicately. Any other writer would have been hounded for such a piece.
