Kandee Johnson (KandeeJohnson on YT) has be a a favorite guru of mine in the past and in my opinion, is one of few who actually deserves the "guru" title, as she has a professional background and has worked with celebrities. However, she's recently been involved in a lot of legal drama. She has expressed her concerns through her blog, saying that the things she is being charged with are "ridiculous". I dont think she ever intended for people to know exactly with what she was being charged until several internet news articles appeared which revealed that she was being charged with child endangerment after supposedly leaving her 12 year old son at home alone while she was away in LA. She's obviously pleading "not guilty" and plans on fighting the charges. Meanwhile, she has been trying to find an attorney to defend her, however, she claims she doesnt have the money to get one.. so, on her blog, she included a button that allows people to "donate" money via paypal.. is that really necessary? Honestly? Are there no better places for people to be donating money, say for example, Haiti?
Anyway, what do you guys think about these charges? Guilty? Not Guilty?

A: Odds are, I just didn't have the chance to get to it. I receive an overwhelming amount of comments and I have to manually go through and approve each one in order for them to appear on the video. I honestly don't have the time to go through them all, so I only approve about 200-1000 per video. The comments are on approval for several reasons.

Agreed, Youtube success has NOTHING to do with being talented at anything. It has to do with being in the right place at the right time and having a somewhat marketable personality or exterior. Oooh, I think Teresa will mold Aaron as he seems kinda well, spacey and maleable. She seems to surround her self with a certain types of people who have similar characteristics that would allow her to dominate and come off as a really great person. Like they take a back seat to her. Her sister seems like she lacks confidence and pinkobsession is well, you know, I mean she started a fan page for Teresa and when I watched the NY trip video, I felt so sorry for her.

There is NO way she only made $25k last year. There are partnered youtubers with a lot less subs than her, and far less video views who made $25k from YT alone last year. yea yea, we're not supposed to talk about it but people do. Plus, how much income did she earn from her glaminars? On top of jobs she's being paid for in LA, along with the income she made through affiliate programs and such. Notice in her Avatar video there's a link to that airbrush site - the link clearly was a referral with her affiliate number on it. No one knows if anyone actually bought anything, but still, we don't know that she hasn't made money from it. She's also plugged stores and sites mentioning getting a percentage off if you say her name - she's not doing that for free. Either they're giving her products or paying her for it. She is the only one I have seen that has not posted anything in regards to FTC regulations. I'd be very surprised if she wasn't given that airbrush system to pimp out to everyone. Yes, speculation in regards to the affiliate income but there is NO way she only made $25k last year. Things to think about.
Taking money from subs is WRONG. I'm sorry she's going through all of this right now but how does anyone even know how much people are "donating". With the amount of fans she has, what if she makes more than she needs for a lawyer. Is she going to refund the money? On the flipside, what if she doesn't make enough in time for the hearing? Is she going to refund people their donations?
I just think it's shady business. Love her positivity... however, it's a little too contrived for me. Her "story" video for instance. How dramatic can you be saying you spent these supposedly everso special silver dollars your family gave you on chips at a gas station because you were "starving". Complete bull IMO. If they were that special to you, you'd drink water from your faucet to fill your stomach temporarily or something. Been there, done that. And if you're so close to your family, why not just call them and ask them to send $10 so you can eat.
I do like aspects of her persona, but a lot of things don't always add up. let's not forget that she stated she always wanted to be an actress.
And if you watch her older videos, she completely different. I'm willing to bet she heard panacea's story and realized she could potentially gain subs and capitalize off her "overcoming her struggle and being positive" Kudos to her. Smart business woman. I don't believe that all of it is a show by any means, but I think it is GREATLY exaggerated.
Makeup wise, her looks lack creativity and application is messy. The one truly good application I saw was on that model. And yes I know she was replicating a runway look, but how about being creative and creating your own looks? It's not rocket science to copy a makeup look off of a wig package (cindy lauper - halloween) or slather orange face paint on with white eyebrows - the guys on that new mtv show just did it. And if she's such a professional, where is her portfolio?

About the charges, I think they're ridiculous. Aside from what I believe to be somewhat of an act on YT, anyone with a brain can tell she's a good, loving and supportive mother. I hope she comes out of this okay, but I don't agree with her accepting money from subs.

It might be a little more helpful if you actually posted the full reason why Kandee placed a paypal button on her blog in the first place as a topic of discussion.
A large amount of people asked her to please give them a way to donate to her which I don't find a problem wtih. She didn't ask for money nor did she ever ask for a handout. She even worked out a way to sell her stuff on ebay to raise money which I think is perfectly respectable.
Whether she is guilty or not is a question and I'm sure that God will see it all through.
The point is she is a wonderful person with a kind heart and people have the audacity to trample a person in such a way. Shame on them. She goes against the grain to say good things and spread words that make people feel good about themselves, whereas the rest can only spit out hate and ugliness.
She really is a wonderful person and she does deserve her guru title, you're right on that. She is good at what she does and personally, I can't find anything wrong helping that sort of person.
The shit hit that fan tonight with MsFili and JuicyTuesday over Kandee. Team Fili all the way!!!! I feel bad for Kandee, everyone makes mistakes and sometimes it just comes down to bad timing. I just don't know why she just couldn't leave her oldest son with her two younger children's father since he was watching them anyway. I'm sure she has her reasons, but something like this could have been avoided. There are worse mothers out there, and even the best of the best can be put through the ringer in a blink of an eye.

Hi! I, along with several other women, recently participated in a comedy contest - impersonate your favorite YT guru. There were 15 gurus we could choose from, and 6 ladies impersonated Kandee Johnson. All 6 of these women have been told they are ugly, fat, racial slurs, old, and should commit suicide immediately. Each woman has received HUNDREDS of emails of this nature simply because we think grown women talking about the stuff in their purse, unicorns, and makeup is funny and is appropriate to be in a parody. Every woman also clearly labeled her video as a parody and said how much they enjoyed KJ videos, but KJ actually encouraged her fans to act this way by crying in a video about the mean lady making videos of her. I am no longer a KJ subscriber. After emailing her several times, I have come to the conclusion that she is a phony.

Kandee is a youtube partner and is #11 Guru. She is making tons of money through ppl subscribing to her channel and watching her videos.She is making well over $6k a month(and alot of free makeup which covers the cost of her makeup supplies) and needs to stop whining.

She wouldn't of needed the money. If you cannot afford your own lawyer, you can fill out a paper and one will be provided for you, if you are financially unable to. She obviously has plenty of money. I mean look at her clothing, and all her makeup & jewelry. I'm pretty sure she's well off financially. She probably just didn't want to pay the money for a lawyer. I too believe people were scammed into giving her money. Shame, I thought she was a good person until I heard about this...

I absolutley love Kandee Johnson but I agree that she is in the wrong here. Whatever the excuse, it is just that...an excuse. I am a single mother and I understand the tremendous weight that it puts on you. But you have to take each day at a time. You have to put the kids first. My son was having trouble in school so I took his butt out and he is now homeschooled. Turns out, he just needed that quality time that he wasn't getting with me. We are both better off because I took a plunge and put him first. That is what Kandee needs to do before this child gets further out of hand. And as for the button, many bloggers put donation buttons on there page. It is another form of income. If you don't like it .... don't donate.
