i only just saw nat's videos for the first time today, out of curiosity after her prologue leaked and then the rape comment, so it's not like i have anything against her really coming into it.
that prologue is garbage. she's not "painting a picture" like she's trying to, she's just being wordy. there's so much description that by the time you're finished with the sentence you can't even remember where it was going in the first place. that's not an enjoyable read, especially to preteens who are the only people who might enjoy her crappy story.
and just so she can't claim i'm too uneducated for her novel if she reads this - i'm a third year student at a real university and i graduated high school with honors. i'm plenty well read, her book just sucks. it's neat that she did it though, just so she can say she once wrote a full length novel. i would be impressed with her if she wasn't acting so pretentious about it.
her only "fans" are fat, twi-hard housewives like herself.
She just doesn't get it though. No one is having trouble understanding her vocabulary. Everyone is just trying to figure out how the fuck she managed to use 10 different adjectives in ONE SENTENCE. She doesn't speak that way in her videos or on Twitter, so she can drop the pretentious ~i'm so educated i got a degree ONLINE~ act. Some of the words don't even fit together, which makes it obvious that she just pulled words at random out of her thesaurus.
in the video nat mentioned how ellen told her to change that ridiculous I FRANTICALLY TURNED DOWN A HALLWAY DEVOURED BY DARKNESS or whatever the fuck it was because it was too many words and she was right. but of course nat thinks she's perfect and her writing is ~poetic~ and she's ~painting a picture~. i bet her novel would be like 30 pages if she cut out the elaborate unnecessary writing.
and i bet publishers will tell nat the same thing. to edit down the unnecessary extra verbiage. but i bet nat will tell them to fuck off and go on to the next publisher because she thinks her (FIRST) novel is perfection.

Unfortunately I think you wasted your money going to college and obtaining a degree, University of Phoenix or not, if you don't understand that aspiring writers much like yourself have their work subject to peer review and critique ALL THE TIME. They must submit their work to others to point out the flaws, what needs to be changed, etc. Yeah pretty much anyone can sit down and churn out a novel if they want, have it self-published why not go for it, but earning respect from your colleagues is a different matter if your ego can't take constructive criticism of your work.

Although Myer is an absolutely atrocious author, she handled the leak with dignity and class, unlike Natasha.
